This video, “America Again” by the late Christian music artist Carman, was released about 30 years ago. I still have the VHS tape but no VHS player to watch it with. 😄 I’ve been singing it a lot lately as we approach Independence Day. It’s a timely song, even though it’s 30 years old!
Watching the progressive decline of our country over the years is heartbreaking.💔 The Laws of God have been rejected and broken. But I no longer think there are cracks in the foundation of America. I think our foundation is crumbling. These momentous cases were like a jackhammer to the foundation of America.
1962- Engel v. Vitale
1973- Roe v. Wade
2015- Obergefell v. Hodges
Psalms 11:1-7 “In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? The LORD is in His holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven: His eyes behold, His eyelids try, the children of men. The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence His soul hateth. Upon the wicked He shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; His countenance doth behold the upright.”
There is no doubt that we need God in America. I think of the prophet Habakkuk as he cried out for God’s mercy upon the nation of Judah, whom God’s judgment was falling upon. Habakkuk 3:2 “O LORD, I have heard Thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive Thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.”
Is America collapsing before our eyes? I don’t know. But I do know that our only hope is Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father, You are high and lifted up. You are still on the throne. Your throne is everlasting! Only You are worthy of glory, honor, and praise! You behold the upright. Thank You for Your grace being shed upon America. You have blessed us! Now God, help this nation to bless You! Turn the hearts of our president and government leaders to You. Only You, Oh Lord, can stop evil. As a nation, as a people, may we not trust in our merit or greatness. God help us to trust in Your mercy. Lord, though we do not show it or even know it, America needs You. Revive and prepare Your Church for the days ahead. Open the eyes of the blind and awaken this dying nation to our need for You. I pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. May Your Son and His ultimate sacrifice be honored in America I pray. ~ Amen🙏❤️🇺🇸
