1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
We see cross symbols in the form of jewelry, we see them made with stone throughout cemeteries, and we see them on most church buildings. The cross symbol is probably familiar to all, but to the redeemed, it’s not only familiar – the cross represents the mighty power of God.
JEHOVAH, the self-existent one. The “I AM”. (Exodus 3:14, Exodus 6:2-3) The one true God, Creator of the universe! The One who formed man from the dust of the ground, (Genesis 2:7) became a man Himself and died on a cross. A cross crafted from His creation, by His creation, in order to punish a common criminal. (Matthew 27, Mark 15, Luke 23, John 19) The magnitude of this thought is mind-blowing and can only be appreciated when the Holy Spirit reveals the glory of the cross unto us. (John 16:7-16, Philippians 2:5-11, 1 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 12:2)
The only begotten Son of God endured the holy, righteous, wrath of Almighty God. Because we, His sinful and rebellious creation, cannot bear the weight of God’s righteous judgment. (Lamentations 3:22-26, John 3:16, Romans 1:15-2:2, 1 John 2:1-2)
God’s redemptive plan is recorded throughout the Old Testament Scriptures and came to fruition in Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. (Romans 10:9-10, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 9, 10)
The greatest story that has ever been told is the same story that will never get old! With this story, there is no end. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is an eternal story and we will be telling this story forever and ever! (Revelation 5:9-13)
Some things are worth repeating because they’re so good. Some things are worth repeating because we don’t want to forget. The story of the cross is not only good and we don’t want to forget, but the story of Jesus Christ and the cross He bore, is worth repeating again and again because HE is worthy!
