The more I study the Word of God, the more I realize that I need to study the Word of God MORE.
I saw this video clip of Paul Washer that really resonated with me, (Open the short video below to view by tapping on it). In my Christian journey over the years I’ve learned so much ABOUT God, but more importantly, He has drawn me closer in KNOWING HIM.
In Jeremiah 9:23-24, it reads, “Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.”
There is nothing more important than knowing God, and what I have found in Christendom is that Bible knowledge is a mile wide, but only an inch deep. Bible verses are memorized, but not understood within their context. In fact, many verses are taken out of their context to support personal preference.
There are a lot of ministries with books, studies, and devotionals. Sadly, I’ve seen these resources more utilized by Christian women than God’s Holy Word. God has given the gift of teaching, but the best teacher is the Holy Spirit. One thing we must never forget is that the enemy wants to deceive us by using false teachings. Every book in the New Testament warns of false teachings except Philemon. This should cause us take notice and beware. Especially as we are warned of the continual increase of deception in these latter days.
I have dedicated many previous blogs, (I encourage you to look through these archives to see them) about false teachings and deception among Christendom. I have personally witnessed and even experienced so much of this over the years. It breaks my heart seeing so many women being swept away by their emotions into false doctrine. I personally, have been deceived and caught up in these movements. It is difficult to reach those who are immersed into deception. Only the Holy Spirit can reach and deprogram them.
I have witnessed firsthand how the enemy is infiltrating the church in America. Satan has been coming at us from many angles. The world has not only crept into the church through false teaching, but also through music and entertainment. Any crack the enemy sees, he will wiggle in. Biblical knowledge is our defense, and if we don’t know God’s Word, there will be cracks and infiltration.
As women we tend to be more emotional, we gravitate towards teachings that encourage us more than teachings that convict and challenge us. We need the WHOLE counsel of God. Remember, Satan is a defeated foe. Our own ignorance, pride, and selflessness is what hinders our walk with God.
I praise the Lord for His sanctification process. He continues to open my eyes and gives me discernment to navigate, study, and pray through. The more I study God’s Word and pray; the more I know Him, and walk in His wisdom.
As Paul Washer says in this clip, “Women need theology.”
EVERY Christian should be a theologian!
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
